Cannabis Sativa Edible: Coconut Matcha Tea

Written by Cara Wietstock

Surprise, surprise, it’s Therapy Tonics popping up again in our Friday product reviews. This time it is in the form of their cannabis Sativa Coconut Matcha Green Tea.

Before enjoying any Therapy Tonics milk drinks give them five to seven good shakes, this is the optimal emulsification method. After shaking it be sure to use the well-labeled mg dosage on the side of the bottle to only take 10mg at a time. This review was a 15mg dose taken in the afternoon on an hours post-breakfast empty stomach.

The Ingredients

Of course, this caffeinated beverage is paired with cannabis Sativa to uplift, rejuvenate, and prepare anyone for their day. The cannabis drink is completely vegan and brewed with 100% Organic and ceremonial grade Matcha. Their matcha is grown on the southern island of Kyushu, Japan. In their proprietary process, Therapy Tonics will first brew the tea then mix in the coconut milk and natural xylitol in their emulsification process.

The Taste

Unlike some of their other milk drinks that use multiple flavors delicately layered on top of each other, the Coconut Matcha Tea sort of speaks for itself. The sweetness of the coconut is what hits our palette first but it is quickly replaced by an earthy intermingling of the Japanese matcha and the Cannabis sativa. Like their whole line of cannabis milks, this beverage doesn’t leave any weird film in our mouths. It almost reminds me of a green tea latte with the thick, delightful texture of the Sativa edible.

The Effect

The effects began about 25 minutes in and continued to escalate until after about 45 minutes had elapsed. At the height of the effects, I felt my frontal lobe buzzing a bit from the caffeine-THC combination that it was attempting to make sense of. This phase can be somewhat anxiety-inducing for those of us that might be susceptible to that. If you fall into this category then go ahead and have CBD nearby. Doesn’t matter if it is a distillate to dab or a tincture to ingest, CBD will help to take the edge off of high doses of THC. After getting through the initial come-up the Sativa effects of this edible are quite enjoyable. I was focused and active but also relaxed and dulled in my mental faculties; a great combo for a heavy daytime stone.

Enjoyed over ice, in a green tea milkshake, or even over a scoop of ice cream; this edible has the ability to make any day a special one.
