Translated from Swedish the word Hälsa means ‘health’, and health is the main focus of the terpene-heavy essential oil company.

Hälsa Therapeutics is a line of essential oil blends created by founder Magda Hjalmarsson. The line includes topicals in nifty roll-on containers infused with unique combinations of herbs. Each combination is meant to provide intentional healing even before it is infused with 100 milligrams of THC and CBD. The products in the Hälsa line all converge at one common theme: our best life lived is a healthy one. Each blend was designed to promote an inner and outer balance after being rolled onto the skin. A quick application of on of the three Hälsa oils can alter the course of our day for the better. This is the essence of the Hälsa Lifestyle: we are each on a unique and intentional mission to balance our minds and bodies.

Topicals can not only relieve chronic, targeted pain and muscle tension, they can be a very relevant alternative to inhaling or ingesting medicinal cannabis. This became clear when Hjalmarsson’s mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She had already been working in the cannabis industry at this point. During this time, she watched her mom struggle with immense mid-back pain, all the while, refusing prescribed opioids and other narcotic pain killers. Her mother instead opted to utilize Advil sparingly while generously applying CO2 oil directly onto her back. The CO2 oil would combat the muscle tension and relieve her immense pain. This is when Hjalmarsson realized that topicals had some real value in the medical cannabis community.

After that initial push, the Hälsa founder decided she would craft her own line of healing topicals that utilized CBD and the other healing compounds found in cannabis. Before getting started, however, the young herbalist immersed herself in researching the healing nature of all common plants. Hjalmarsson quickly learned that other herbs have their own therapeutic benefits. Similarly, these herbs could be used to strengthen the effects of the healing compounds within the cannabis plant. The entrepreneur then understood that utilizing cannabis alongside these more common herbs could be a valuable synergy for cannabis patients. The terpene profiles in the supporting herbs round out the terpene profile of the cannabis to create a more well-rounded mode of ancient medicine.

“Being able to bring people ancient medicine in a concentrated form is pretty incredible. We want to bring this ancient wisdom into a modern, easy to use application.”

Currently, the Hälsa topicals line includes three calculated blends that each feature their own unique combination of herbs. Additionally, each product is infused with CBD isolate sourced from a female cannabis plant. Then the blend is infused with a whole plant cannabis extraction so that it can be properly dosed with THC. Each bottle will contain 100 mg CBD and 100 mg THC. The extraction start material is sourced from Humboldt County and then brought to Central California to be processed into oils. Currently, every roll on bottle of Hälsa therapeutic essential oil blends contains a precise combination of whole plant cannabis extract, CBD isolate, and a combination of synergistic essential oils.

Hjalmarsson let Terpenes and Testing in on the fact that the company is planning to release a brand new line of essential oil blends that don’t contain cannabis. She believes this introduction will make her special brand of aromatherapy more accessible to the average consumer.  The team is formulating one more new line that the Hälsa founder kept mostly under wraps. She did let us know that these products will be focused specifically on balancing the endocannabinoid system. For now, let’s get to know the current Hälsa product line.

Each of these three cannabis products is ideal for specific moments in our day. Apply them topically to the inner wrist, neck, and even the bottoms of the feet to reap the therapeutic benefits. They can also serve as a great perfume and as such, can honestly be worn anytime. Hjalmarsson laid out the best times for anyone to use the Soothe, Heal, and Unwind Hälsa blends.terpenes

Soothe

peppermint + orange + marjoram + cypress

Apply this blend wherever, absolutely wherever, you have muscle pain or tension. It can also be used as a pick me up as the peppermint can be invigorating.

Heal

clove + cinnamon + lemon + orange

Apply at the bottom of your feet for strong absorption since this is where the largest pores on the body exist. It is also beneficial directly on top of organs that are having trouble, hold a hot compress onto the skin where Halsa oil has been applied for deeper absorption.

terpenes

Unwind

lavender + lemon + orange + ylang-ylang

Apply before your own relaxing self-care routine, whether that is yoga, a meditation practice, a bath, or even just a quick pause for a deep breath.

  • So in 10,000 mg of solution there is 100 mg of cbd and 100 mg of thc. This will have no effect whatsoever and should be classified as nothing more than snake oil.

    • Good morning Rick,
These are topical applications not designed to get users high. There are indeed 100 mg of both active product ingredients in a 10-mL vial, which works out to 10 mg/mL each of CBD and THC. Given the current interest in microdosing (https://terpenesandtesting.com/microdosing-cannabis-benefits-without-buzz/), where 2.5 mg has been suggested as a good starting dose (dry herb vaporizers hve been suggested as delivery systems), and the fact that some users want to medicate without feeling psychotropic effects, products like these may help them to combat sources of pain, or promote a general feel of relaxation, without other unwanted effects. Since some companies have generated products without providing sufficient data to bolster their claims, your skepticism is warranted. Ultimately, though, it is through patients experimenting, and using trial and error that they will be able to hone in on the right treatments for them. Thanks for the comment.
