Tel Aviv, Oct. 26, 2018…iCAN: Israel-Cannabis has partnered with Polish biologist and entrepreneur, RafałŚlusarczyk, to form Cannabinit, a new company that utilizes revolutionary technology to produce high quality plant cells in vitro. This process eliminates the need to grow a whole plant or the need for a growing facility, at all.
Just days ago, Cannabinit came in First Place in the CannX Medical Cannabis Conference start-up competition which took place in Tel Aviv.
Ślusarczyk, a former manager at the academic business incubator and biologist from the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Poland, devised the novel technique. Compared to greenhouse growing, the process is highly efficient, avoids risk of plant
diseases or genetic variations/mutations, and results in controlled, standardized plant extract.
The technology has been successfully used on lavender plants and now Ślusarczyk is working to transfer the technology to the medical cannabis world and bring it to market with the help of iCAN’s expertise, global network and reputation.
Cannabinit will join iCAN’s portfolio of successfully incubated projects including CMTREX and Yom Chai.
Saul Kaye, CEO and Founder of iCAN said, “I will be mentoring RafałŚlusarczyk through the EU Science exchange program, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, and am excited about the great potential of his discovery. In contrast to the process of growing cannabis in a greenhouse, we believe that this breakthrough process will lower costs of maintenance and is significantly more efficient. Furthermore, there is no risk of plant diseases and there will be no difficulty in the standardization of the final product, a serious market concern. Controlling the content of the cells in the cannabis plant is a game changer for the developing medical cannabis market. I am thrilled that Cannabinit will join iCAN’s incubator portfolio and certain that we will successfully launch this revolutionary technology.”
