Monitoring System Keeps Data Log of Environmental Conditions to Maintain Ideal Cannabis Growing Facility Climate

Written by Shared Content

ASTON, Pa., March 5, 2021 – Because cannabis plants require specific conditions at various stages of development, it is important to control the environment throughout the growing facility. Ideal growing conditions can vary from one area to another, depending on the type and maturity of the plants. The Sentinel™ monitoring system from Sensaphone provides data logging of critical environmental conditions over time, enabling growing facility operators to identify trends that indicate potential equipment problems before they impact plants.

The Sentinel monitoring system uses cloud technology to provide supervised 24/7 remote monitoring of changes in environmental conditions. It allows operators to track temperature, humidity, ventilation, soil moisture, carbon dioxide, water pH and power failure. When the Sentinel system detects that a sensor reading has moved out of the preset range, it sends immediate notification via phone call, text or email to designated personnel, enabling them to take fast corrective action.

The system’s data acquisition and logging function can store an unlimited amount of sensor information that users can view, graph, print and export. This advanced data logging capability saves personnel time and effort when reporting on operating conditions and helps them to identify unusual sensor readings that might indicate equipment malfunction.

Operators can access real-time data from anywhere using a mobile device. They can also check status information, change settings, disable alarms and readjust temperature limits right from the Sensaphone app.

Sensaphone offers both Ethernet and cellular versions of the Sentinel system. Each system monitors up to 12 different environmental and equipment status conditions. Housed in a NEMA-4X enclosure, the Sentinel unit is protected from dust, dirt and moisture both indoors and out.

The Sentinel system constantly communicates a signal to the Sensaphone cloud to validate its online status. If the communication link is interrupted—for example by a power outage or someone accidently switching off the unit—the system generates an alert indicating that internet connection is lost or that there is a cellular communications problem. Users are notified about the disruption through phone, text or email.
