In recent years cannabis drying has become an incr In recent years cannabis drying has become an incredibly important topic for manufacturers in various industries. Many slow and inefficient drying practices are still widely used in cannabis processing procedures. Nevertheless high quality dried cannabis is needed in order to extract vualuable bioactive molecules for medical purposes. [1]

In particular, botanical extracts like aqueous extracts must be dried into a solid form to maintain a longer shelf life. [2] That’s why many have started developing and using innovative drying methods for botanical extracts. Prospective low-temperature drying technologies are significantly influencing the drying procedures of botanical extracts. These methods include freeze-drying, microwave vacuum drying, and infrared drying. If these optimized and well-controlled drying methods are utilized, it’s proven that a higher quality product can be obtained without losing active ingredients and flavors and maintaining microbial safety. Americans are increasingly turning to alternative Americans are increasingly turning to alternative medicine, including cannabis and its secondary metabolites (e.g., cannabinoids and terpenes), to alleviate symptoms associated with a myriad of health issues. Given this, it would be beneficial for healthcare providers to be familiar with this natural therapeutic and its potential benefits, whether they choose to recommend it to their patients or not.

The question is, how much do medical professionals truly know about cannabinoids, like cannabidiol (CBD), tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and other compounds in the cannabis plant?

Hemp has been used for industrial purposes for a l Hemp has been used for industrial purposes for a long time in European history. [1] The stems can be used to produce various fibers or insulation material, the oils have been shown to have therapeutic applications, and the seeds can be used to generate food sources. As popularity continues to grow, it becomes vital to develop cultivars that will maximize yields of all of these materials to efficiently utilize this plant.
Comparing the Cultivars
The University of Udine compared eight cultivars of monoecious hemp to determine what factors make the most difference in maximizing yields of seeds, stems, and oil harvested at full flowering. [2] Of the eight variations that were grown on the university’s experimental farm, four originated in Hungary, two were from France, with one each from Romania and Ukraine, respectively. These variants of hemp were selected to represent a wide range of maturation time, ranging from “Very Early” to “Late” to provide a broader spectrum of data to compare.

As the cannabis industry matures, growers are look As the cannabis industry matures, growers are looking for new ways to increase yields and maximize efficiency. Plenty of progress has been made since states first began legalizing cannabis, but an even bigger change may be on the horizon: triploid cannabis.
Seeds, Pollen, and Lost Crops
To understand why triploid cannabis could be a game-changer for the cannabis industry, you first need to grasp the problem with cannabis seeds.
Cannabis seeds are problematic in that no one wants cannabis seeds mixed up in the flower they’re trying to roll. They can also get in the way of manufacturing other cannabis products. Because seeds are such a problem, cannabis farmers try their hardest to prevent their plants from producing seeds. A crop that produces too many is often considered unusable.

The gender of a cannabis plant matters to growers The gender of a cannabis plant matters to growers since it’s the female plants that produce buds that generate cannabinoids like cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA). Given this, anyone growing cannabis plants will want to understand how to grow female plants. To maximize the odds of yielding female plants, growers may choose to start with feminized seeds.
Female Cannabis Plants Produce Higher Yields of Cannabinoid-Rich Buds
Female plants are prized for their flowers, rich with trichomes containing secondary metabolites like cannabinoids and terpenes, but if male plants are allowed to mingle with female plants for long enough, they’ll pollinate the female plants and drastically lower their yields. For this reason, it’s important to identify the sex of the plant early on in order to separate them.

Today, Cannabis sativa is widely used around the w Today, Cannabis sativa is widely used around the world for various purposes. Its history of human use dates back thousands of years. However, the versions of cannabis you encounter today are far different than what was available when domestication efforts of the plant were first carried out. Between then and now, the hand of humankind has worked to domesticate cannabis for a medley of purposes, resulting in the cultivars we have today.
How We Got Here
Today, there are countless varieties of cannabis in the marketplace, in private homes, and in the wild. However, at one point, the plant only grew wild and did not have the genetic variety that exists today.
