Garden State’s Notorious Cannabis Advocate

and Visionary Cites Exclusion of Black Market Support System to Create Corporate Industry

“They need to make it legal for all of us, not just the rich white guys.”

Notorious, and often-outrageous, cannabis advocate and visionary Edward “NJWeedman” Forchion says yesterday’s announcement by state lawmakers that they will seek voter approval to legalize cannabis in New Jersey is a major “scheme” designed to exclude the black market that has grown and developed the industry for decades.

“I’m voicing my opposition again to this phony legalization bill,” says Forchion who, with his partner, Debi Madaio, owns and operate NJ WEEDMAN’S JOINT, the popular groundbreaking 420-friendly lounge concept strategically located across the street from Trenton City Hall. “This legalization bill excludes the current black market that provides over 90 percent of the [cannabis] consumed currently in the state.”

Senate President Steve Sweeney and Senator Nicholas Scutari, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, announced the introduction of legislation to seek voter approval of a constitutional amendment to legalize adult use of cannabis. Gov. Phil Murphy is in favor of legalizing cannabis for adults and tried to pass a law this spring but did not get the votes.

“Scutari has sold out the people to the big cannabis corporations and have switched sides and joined in advocating for this corporate bill,” Forchion continues. “They are casting the true victims of the war on pot aside in favor of Big Cannabis. Ninety-five percent of all pot consumed in New Jersey now is supplied by the black market, and Senator Scutari is selling legalization to corporations. And the above-mentioned groups have joined him to the detriment of the rest of us.

Forchion is a primary organizer of a protest to the current legislation, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. at the New Jersey Statehouse.

Forchion is a national media figure who was advocating – and risking arrest and incarceration – for legalization more than two decades before the overwhelming majority of state residents supported it (62 percent according to various surveys).

NJWeedman’s Joint is located at 322 E. State Street, Trenton, NJ 08608, directly across the street from Trenton City Hall. Hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Contact the Joint at (609) 437-0898. More info at www.njweedmansjoint.com.
